Useful words for IELTS 2

1. Plants life in the Taklimakan desert




·         Accumulate- to gradually increase over time

·         Adapt- to change to fit a situation or environment

·         Determine- to decide

·         Dilute- to make weaker by mixing with water

·         Diverse- varied, of many kinds

·         Evaporation- the change from liquid to gas, loss of water to the air

·         Extreme- very severe or difficult

·         Fringe- the edge of something

·         Mechanism- behavior to deal with difficult situations

·         Minimize- to reduce to the least possible amount

·         Moisture- wetness or water

·         Occupy- to be in a place, exist in

·         Prolific- producing a lot of something

·         Resilient- tough, able to endure difficult conditions

·         Sparse- small in numbers or amount

·         Stressor- something that causes great difficulties

·         Swing- a sudden or big change
